After your orientation which normally takes a day..sometimes 2 they will stick you somewhere to be "trained" by another associate (high school student most likely) They will bounce you around like a ping pong ball. I worked for them for 5 years and at one point I was the CO Admin, ran the mens dept, cashiered and was in charge of infants and ran layway all at the same time....That store was so jacked up, I hated going to work every single day. If they find out that you work hard and dependable they will work you to death because most likely there are going to be unreliable people working with you. If I were you I would run, and dont plan on being appreciated for anything you do!!! That company should really be on Undercover Boss...no joke

I dont work there anymore thank God!!!

The orientation is basically watching 2 hours of outdated instructional videos about health and safety. They instantly stick you on a register, unless it is really busy that day. Then They will put you on the sales floor. You don't learn the departments ahead of time. Customers will ask you questions on the sales floor that you can't answer because you don't know where the merchandise goes. I have worked here for a little over 2 years now and there is a huge turnover. Getting hours is difficult. They try to limit you as much as possible. 5 out of 40 employees get full-time while the rest get about 10-15 hours a week. They do all employee reviews in April and that's when you get a "raise." It is usually about 30 cents maximum. I am performing the job of CEC, or front end manager, and haven't gotten a raise for more responsibility and more flac from customers.

I currently work there and have been for 5 years now. I agree with the answer above. Our orientation actually takes 2 hours and they do bounce you around every single place in that store. "Training" is basically going over policies and then you are put in a sink or swim situation. This is how they find out where your "best" at. I've ran the Frontline and currently a homegoods furniture coordinator/key carrier. Everything is true that the other answer includes :)
