i have 2 years of CSR experience, absolutely no sales experience, and I'm about to take the ohio property/casualty insurance license exam. I see that Safe Auto is looking for Sales Agents and CSR's in my area. After I get my license, should I apply directly to a sales job, or would I have more chances if I applied for a CSR job, then moved to sales after I learn the ropes?
Thank you.

A sales position is usually heavily based on commission, so if you do not sell, you do not get money.

A sales person's base salary is also usually very small, barely enough to make ends meet, so you HAVE to sell to make a worthwhile amount.

If you have no experience, you will likely sell little or nothing the first few months; if you can take the lack of income, then fine, go for it. You might be very fortunate and get customers quickly.

Otherwise, take the CSR position, build up your savings and experience, and go for the sales position when you feel more confident in your selling skills.

To help you keep an angle for all sides of Auto relate sales work, plus to having a simple secondary income source, abilities to offer extended car warranties after the dealer warranties go out of effect is currently possible. Their commissions start at $500, free to join by anyone, and will work for online or offline advertising and selling. Very new.

You don't need any sales experience nor a license to work in claims. Neither will help you land the job.
